Excess hair is a commonly seen in woman from particular ethnic backgrounds such as the Mediterranean, south Asian and the Middle East. Some medical conditions can cause an increase growth of thick course hair in areas that hair would typically be found in men. This is known as hirsutism. This is a side effect of certain medical conditions or medications and must be discussed with your GP. Some women do not find this a problem but in others this can have debilitating effects of social interaction and self esteem. Men have also commonly used laser hair removal to eliminate unwanted excess hairs and ingrown hairs (Pseudofolliculitis Barbae). Click here to see treatments for men.
Science: Excessive hair growth is normally due to high levels of male hormones (androgens). Our machine works by penetrating the skin to target the hair follicles and kills them. After 7-10 days the hair begins to fall out. A course of treatments are needed for the most effective results. Any area of the face or body can be treated. See the treatments section for more details.
